(P)update – unfortunately Nellie will need to stay on meds for the rest of her life – which by the way surely will be amazing. That is why we are currently looking for a long term foster home.
A lovely home with another dog and a patient owner that is at home all day would suit her best.
Our amazing Karen would love to keep her, yet with 2 other dogs of her own and possible future foster pups it might be a little too busy for our sweet Nellie, so if you’d like to offer Nellie a loving foster home for the rest of her days please get in touch with our wonderful team for all the necessary and life-saving details.
Nellie – in foster with Karen – looking for a long term foster.
Hi everyone, my name is Nellie… I’m new to DDR – I don’t really remember much about my previous life or why I ended up in the Pound. I waited there but nobody came for me … until the fabulous guys in Heathlands Animal Sanctuary gave me a lifeline.
But it all became too much for me. On Saturday morning, I collapsed out walking with the DDR volunteers. I was only about 1.5 miles from the kennel, but I couldn’t make it back. Quick thinking Kelly flagged down a lorry for help and they got me back to the kennels.
Sarah took me to the vet and the lovely Anna says I have a bad murmur so I’ve been put on heart tablets. A week supply for a start.
They think I’m about 8 – I was a bit confused to be honest.
But tonight I’m much happier – my new dog mom offered to take me into her care. I’m enjoying the best rest I’ve had in ages. There’s 2 lovely dog brothers here to mind me – Max and Ace – I look forward to hanging out with them tomorrow xxx
