Hi everyone
Here is a selection of the dogs currently in our care .. sadly, a lot of these have been surrendered to the Pound by their families .. so some are finding the adjustment to kennel life tough going. We also have quite a lot of dogs who have been in our care for a number of weeks now.
We are so grateful to our wonderful volunteers who turn up each and every Saturday to ensure every dog in the kennels get a long walk, cuddles, grooming and treats .. this truly is the highlight of the week for these dogs .. and again reinforces the importance for us to get our own Rescue Center .. a few hours once a week just isn’t enough for these dogs .. especially those with us for a few months ..
It’s absolutely heartbreaking that week on week, the Pound continues to fill up with strays and surrenders .. we have 31 dogs in kennels at the moment .. these dogs don’t have homes .. and yet we will need to find room for the dogs who’s time will be up in the Pound .. it’s a vicious cycle that is emotionally draining on our volunteers – but we have to keep positive and continue to do what we can ..
And this is where our wonderful foster homes come in .. they play a key role in not only providing the one-to-one care the vulnerable pooches require, but for every dog that goes to foster, it provides space for another dog to be saved .. foster homes also provide that crucial assessment of our dogs which just isn’t possible in a kennel environment. It’s coming to the holiday time of year, so we will welcome new foster home applications – please email rehoming@dundalkdogrescue.ie
To enquire about any of the dogs in our care, or about how to adopt one of our dogs, then please email rehoming@dundalkdogrescue.ie – all interested applications are subject to home checks and rehoming fees apply.
Your donations are vital to ensure we can continue to cover our kennel costs, veterinary bills and transportation. Full details of how you can donate to our rescue can be found on our webpage – www.dundalkdogrescue.ie

These 2 guys are father & son .. Merryl is the daddy and Bandit is the son, only a couple months old .. and they found themselves abandoned … our colleagues in Heathlands offered them a life-line and they came into our care until they are ready to travel.
We are so grateful to Mags who answered the call on Saturday morning and took both these little dudes into foster. They received a much needed grooming from Katy.
