Akira – living the Swedish dream

We got this wonderful update  from Cecilia & Bertil who adopted the lovely Akira. This was made possible through our colleagues in Hundar Utan Hem. Akira had been found tied to a lamp-post in Dublin’s inner city in August. It must have been so frightening for her, as she is no more than a pup. After remaining unclaimed in the Pound, she was offered a lifeline by HUH. Our wonderful foster carer’s Julia and Elena took her into their care to prepare her for her new adventure. Here is what her new family have to say:

I am writing to thank you for rescuing Akira who is now named Tora ( means Tiger in Japanese)! She is so sweet and cuddly.
We have had her for two weeks now and she has settled in very well. Our old female dog was a bit unsure about Tora during the first week, but I think we’ve managed to show Tora that although she is the biggest, she is also the youngest and will come last. She is not difficult but strong and seems to be a natural leader. She is a truly beautiful dog.
Tora lives with me and my husband and Ombra, the clever streetdog from Sardinia who is 13 years old. We have six children between us who are all grown up. We live in a typically Swedish house built in 1928 in wood, painted yellow. There is a big national park behind the house, perfect for dogs. We are only 10 km from Stockholm. We have snow now and Tora loves it, eats it.

Kind regards, Cecilia and Bertil
